Francisco Goya's Disasters of War (Los Desastres de la Guerra) series (82 plates) were drawn following a tempestuous time in Goya's life between 1814-15, when 68 years old, where he really drew the harsh reality of life in Spain during the wars there for the common people away from the grandeur of court. This is Plate 80 'Si Rusucitara'. There were only five series of the Disasters published from 1863 onwards. It really is a stunning etching and the atmosheric pain of Goya's subject matter is there for all to see!
