Pierre Laprade painted two images of this famous scene as the viewer looks at the Eiffel Tower through the window beside the bouquet of flowers and the map of the world. One in oil and one in watercolour. His series of views through windows in famous cities are highly sought after but none more so than the beautiful, romantic Paris and the iconic Eiffel Tower!
The image appears in the inside front cover of Laprade's bibliography (see pictures) and the painting was sold at Sotheby's London 25/2/87, lot 206 previously.
The painting in watercolour and pastel, is signed and measures 48cm x 35.5 cm and retains original frame with Paris Gallery label still present verso.
It is a lovely piece of early 20th century Parisian history painted in the post impressionistic era of a truly amazing cultural city.
