Benjamin West PRA (1738-1820)

Benjamin West is widely known as the Father of American art and was also one of the founding members of the British Royal Academy, where he suceeded Sir Joshua Reynolds as the second ever president.

He gained valuable patronage from amongst others the King of England and following his travels through Europe he settled in England and became the Royal painter at court as well as producing many famous historical paintings including 'The Death of General Wolfe' and 'The Death of Lord Nelson'.
He was responsible and commissioned to adorn many royal buildings including the chapel at Windsor Castle and was a major influence on many young Royal Academians of the 18th century.
He left a lasting legacy of fully documented paintings now housed in numerous musuems and major galleries throughout the world and he is a very important character to the history of art in the western world.

Danielle is a Canadian artist raised in a village of only 22 people and has been an international artist for over 30 years. She creates luminous floral images which shine out from the canvas brightly with pure energy and she works in a variety of mediums.Her work is very collectable and highly sought after.
