Oil painting

Marina Syntelis (b.1975) takes an astonishing 12 months and multiple layers of oil paint to produce this sensational image of the Aegean Sea painted with a view from the sky through the clouds down to the sea! it is breathe-taking!

In Marina's words "This was my first attempt to paint a seascape on a larger canvas. The inspiration came from an aerial view of Tainaron Peninsula, the southern point of Europe mainland. Large waves are not common in Greece but this particular place, due to its orientation, often offers unique, Aegean waves. I tried to find the colour of the wild, Aegean Sea as it appears in the winter. The work turned rather abstract but to me it is very realistic and special.."

Having exhibited it for the first time at The Manchester Art Fair people stood in awe and amazement looking at a painting coming to life in view of the sheer power, depth and classic way it has been painted in true Syntelis style!

The image measures 120cm x 100cm (124cm x 104cm framed) and is framed beautifully in a white box floating frame

It is a beautiful painting and the sheer magnetism of the realism and abstraction takes you to a different world and importantly back time after time to look at it!
